Squiz NZ achieves Bronze-level Enviro-Mark certification

01 Apr 2010

enviroMarkBWSquiz New Zealand recently passed an external audit to achieve Bronze-level Enviro-Mark certification.

The Enviro-Mark certification programme is run in New Zealand by Crown research institute Landcare Research. The programme helps organizations to develop and implement an environmental management system (EMS), with independent audit and certification.

The Bronze-level certification requires a third-party audit against compliance to the most commonly applicable environmental, health and safety legislation of New Zealand. An annual audit is required to maintain the certification.

Squiz achieved Bronze-level certification with the help of Greater Wellington's eMission programme, a one-year subsidised business sustainability and carbon reduction programme for businesses in the Wellington region.

We are now working along with the other 20 businesses enrolled in eMission, towards the Silver and Gold Levels of Enviro-Mark certification.

While preparing for the upcoming external audit, we are finalising our environmental policy statement, and planning to publish our environmental performance on the Squiz website.

In addition to being open about our own sustainability efforts and environmental performance, we hope that our experiences might assist others – and especially others in the IT industry, which is estimated to have a similar sized carbon footprint to the aviation industry.
