STATS 103 - Website Statistics

Description

This course seeks to demystify web statistics for website owners, by allowing site owners to collect and interpret information on how users are interacting with their website using reports produced by two popular statistical packages, AWStats and Google Analytics (often used in conjunction with sites managed by Matrix). Students will also be introduced to the key elements of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and some general implementation practices in keeping with SEO.

By the end of this course participants will be able to:

  • Generate web statistics and gain meaning of common terminology associated with web statistics
  • Access AWStats and Google Analytics
  • Interpret reports generated by AWStats
  • Set up goals and tunneling using Google Analytics
  • Interpret reports generated by Google Analytics
  • Understand the basics of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)and how to interpret the impact on your website statistics

Pre-Requisites

In order for you to get the most of this course, you should have:

  • knowledge of web development and/or online publishing
